Scarlett Johansson was born on November 22, 1984, at New York City New York. She is an American singer/actress whose range has earned her recognition in a variety of kinds of genres, from thrillers to adventures to period films. Johansson grew up living in New York City as the daughter of an architect, and also a production company. She and her twin brother Hunter were the youngest of four siblings. At the age of seven year old, she started casting for commercials on television. The passion for acting developed quickly and she enrolled immediately in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. When she was eight years old, Johansson appeared alongside Ethan Hawke as Sophistry in an Off-Broadway show. And at age nine her debut film was Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson later appeared as a character in Just Cause (1995), but her first break came with Manny & Lo a coming of age drama about sisters who run away. The film, The Horse Whisperer, Johansson as a teen victim of an horrific crash. Her role in Ghost World brought her more fame as the outcast teen Rebecca. Smith got her first acting gig when she was just six with parents' encouragement. In a commercial on television, she starred as Dannon Yogurt. The same as other newbie actresses the actress honed her talents on stage. While she made her on-stage debut in Wildflower she also worked in various projects throughout the USA.
